IRS-certified volunteers will offer free tax preparation services 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan 29 at Town and Country Plaza, 3300 N. Pace Blvd., as part of the third annual United Way "Financial Fitness Bazaar."
The tax preparation service is free for lower income residents. To receive this on-the-spot service, taxpayers must bring: Photo proof of identity, Social Security cards for taxpayer, spouse, and all dependents, all W2's, 1098, and 1099 forms, childcare provider's identification number, taxpayer's banking information or a valid mailing address, estimated tax payments, amounts of other cash income and last year's tax return if possible.
ASL and Spanish language interpreters are available with prior notice to 444-7042. The site is A.D.A. compliant.
In addition to free tax preparation, the Financial Fitness Bazaar event will offer a variety of helpful services and information, including free advice on how to build or repair your credit score, information about KidCare Insurance, free legal advice and services from Legal Services of North Florida, and information on enrolling for food stamps, the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program, Medicare and Medicaid.
Beginning Jan. 31, United Way's free tax preparation service will be available through April 14 at the following locations:
Department of Children & Families, 8190 Pensacola Blvd., Pensacola. Mondays and Wednesdays, Noon to 4 p.m.
Pensacola State College, Bldg. 96, 1000 College Blvd., Pensacola. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Southeast Vocational Services, 2001 North E St., Pensacola. By appointment only. Call Victor Latham at 595-1330, ext. 3286, for appointments.
University of West Florida, Bldg. 22, 11000 University Parkway, Pensacola. Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
United Way of Escambia County's Financial Stability Coalition is a volunteer program made possible with the help of the IRS and corporate partners, including Wal-Mart, Regions, Bank of America, Wachovia, Local Edge, and the Gannett Foundation.
