@grapejelly, if you loathe Martin Amis so much, why do you post all this stuff? I just BET you're a failed novelist.

folkiemacc: its great to see that mart is your hero, im mentioned in that book, look out for fernanda. i read the last few lines and i cried

I'm reading Experience and he has become my hero. I also saw Philip Larkin at Hull in 1982-'85 and he completely ignored me! Can I be an intellectual now?

Martin Amis is a genius

Mart's sense of loss at death of Kingsley and Sally is real and beautifully evoked in his writing. Problem is, his insensitive dramatising of his cousin's murder and his using of her death in his memoir, offended her family (as he says of the guy who wrote about his father's death-bed scene "What was he doing in there?") Also his too personal descriptions of his own father's death, make us suspect his motives. Is nothing sacred to this guy? He does not forgive others for this ambulance-chasing.

you went out and grabbed and achieved and worked your b...-self to death... he was GOING to say 'worked your butt off', wasn't he?!
never very impressed by charlie rose, gotta admit

He's busily writing better English than you are.
he's not a pseudo-intellectual, he's an intellectual. by what other term could he be described? he earns his bread and butter by his intellect. it's his job. what in the world could it mean to call martin amis a pseudo-intellectual?

Yes, this IS the problem. Not religious fools, not ideological zealots, not crazed delusional sociopaths. Why not blame a Danish cartoonist while you're at it?
