  • To understand modernity, it is necessary to reach back beyond 1963, and She Loves You. (Nothing against Beatles). Amazing that a young person would dig back to Lewis Mumford. Must say: this sounds like it was a very dark moment for Mumford, who was otherwise the rational, positive, inspiring guy. A believer in civilization. But unlike any of us born after the Second World War, we didn't have to live through the horrors of the 20th century. It was just history. Right.
