In this video I install Arch Linux in VirtualBox with KDE 4.4, this is a quick install so you may want to take longer going through each of the steps if you are installing this for yourself but I have quite a bit of experience with Arch so I just installed what I required for the system.

I'm not a huge fan of Arch because of the package maintainers and their selection of dependencies for applications, it pulls in a lot of things which just aren't required.

This video just installs Arch, KDE 4.4 and gtk-qt-engine/qtcurve to make GTK apps look nice on KDE and QT.

  • You can skip dependencies if you answer "no"?

  • @IkarusKommt Only on metapackages.

  • I wish I would have found this nice speedy video before when I had xorg, xinit and kde left to setup. Oh well got it to run great anyway but I will keep this in mind next time. :)

  • Yep, you can install them all in one command, setting up .xinitrc is easy especially if you're using FOSS drivers.

  • This weekend I'm gonna use this tut to tryout ArchLinux... It's great man! Well done, thanks :):):)

  • You're welcome. Let us know how you got it running :)
