  • I heard some of this on WDCB Chicago months ago, jotted the name on a scrap

while driving, just looked it up now, goes back further than I imagined, really didn't know what to expect visually...thanks for gettin it on YT ...

  • Actually it is the Vietnamese dan tranh (pronounced 'chang') which actually comes from the name of the ancient Persian harp also called 'chang.' The chang, or at least the name, anciently went from Persia to China then to Vietnam where ancient Chinese music has remained for centuries. Te chang was plucked; but the dulcimer or Persian santur (Chinese yang chin or foreign zither) was struck with mallets. Dr. Lloyd Miller

  • Breathtakingly beautiful and original. An old Iranian instrument I think , like a dulcimer.

  • You can read about the unbelievable adventures of Dr. Lloyd Miller traveling and performing through the Middle East and beyond by going to the jazzscope website and clicking on Sufi, Saint & Swinger. Some of the adventures playing and jamming in many musical styles around the Middle East during 7 years are very enlightening and fun reading.

  • Dee-doo-dee-dum! I love it!

  • Genius geezer, check out the compilation of his work on jazzman records, it's outstanding..
