@seanzxjulian Well, I think "emotion" and "soul" criticisms started when butthurt blues rock players who suck up to people like Clapton saw a whole new paradigm of technical guitar playing that made their jaws drop. However, there is the element of musicality at high speed that players like Govan and Lane have. Rusty plays fast for the sake of speed, but doesn't incorporate much musicality into it, his stuff seems like a bunch of technical exercises.
