Man, Roger's oyster-puke, Freddy Rumsen's urine, Guy McKendrick's bloody foot - some carpet-cleaning firm is making lotsa money servicing Sterling-Cooper!

Don pulled this stunt to get even with Roger for hitting on Don's wife. It had nothing to do with showing how out of shape Roger was.

I think it goes deeper than that. Don is getting his petty revenge over the Betty thing, but he's also showing Roger that he's the alpha dog now. Reminding him he's the young virile guy, and head of the pack, even if Roger has more money/clout.
