Perfect connection between the song and the images. You can not get past the wonder and joy these characters take in being 'there' beyond the bonds of earth despite the dangers.

No it wasn't. I enjoy the Star Trek movie. I enjoy this song. But that is a TERRIBLE idea to put the two together. Now, if you used the older Star Trek movies and this song, then maybe it could work. Probably not, but maybe. As it was, it felt...awkward at best.

Now, if you had used scenes from the television show, then it would have fit better. Fireflies is a song of childish wonder and longing, and dreaming. The recent Star Trek movie just doesn't fit that bill.
