  • Yeah, there's definitely something wrong with the graphics for you. All of those black and white spots that show up on the fades are most definitely not supposed to be there. Hmm, what emulator are you using?

Also, shriek-bats are actually called skrees in this game. There's a whole set of names I could tell you, but I think I'll spare you of that. :-)

  • @danielcdawson Wow you sure know your stuff. I don't really care about knowing the game, that's why it's a blind playthrough. As for graphics, I wouldn't know the problem. I'm using a snes9x emulator and it's in game AVI recorder to record these, and WMM to add commentary. I don't see any spots during gameplay, so i assume it's the recorder, which I admit records very low quality (it has to stretch it to fit in youtube, even at 240p). Thanks for the comment, however!

  • @StarWarsXM Well, I'm pretty familiar with this game. I wouldn't call myself an expert player certainly, but I know where most of the stuff is. It helps to have seen 100% runs. :-P Also, I have access to Nintendo's official guide, which lists most of the enemies (not quite all).

So what do you have to say about that mess in the Ceres entrance shaft (part 1, 3:24) and the weird stuff in the background when e.g. you load a game (such as part 5, 0:14)? Did you not see that in-game either?

  • @danielcdawson Nope, Although I did test this out. The game has two ingame recorders I can use, one records avi and the other records file that can only be played in the emulator, and I did not see any dots in the latter. However, I do still notice them in the avi recording, thus I think that is the cause. Sorry, and remember that I am only uploading these for personal entertainment, so poor quality really isn't a huge problem for me (just look at the gameplay lol).

  • @StarWarsXM Yeah, I understand. I just wanted to be sure you knew there's a visual discrepancy. That has to be a bug in snes9x.

And, well, it's a blind run, so of course no one should expect you to be good at this point.

Just an idea: Could the video recording be causing a lot of the lag? It does take significant CPU to encode video. What you might try doing is record a demo (SMV), then after you're through, play it back and export to AVI. Probably won't eliminate all lag, but worth a shot?
