Garrett's last set today. Some press-out and other minor issues but a PR triple all the same.

The song here is "The Kitchen Song" by The Bowmans -- www.thebowmansmusic.com and www.myspace.com/thebowmans

  • look again! it DOES exist!!!

That video is far more conclusive than ANYTHING on bigfoot, Nessie, or UFOs combined.

Seriously, the push/power jerk has been described as such interchangeably for probably longer than you've been alive. At TWR we use "power jerk" for all lifts of this nature to avoid confusion with the push press and to encourage consistency with terminology in regard to body position at receipt of the bar.

Now, you are smarter. You're welcome.

    xoxo,

    Chris

  • Wow! Weight training to the Kitchen Song. :) That's probably the least likely scenerio... :D Very impressive, too! Thanks so much for listening to our music! Glad it makes a good weight training soundtrack

  • The Bowmans make a great everything soundtrack!

  • im just asking cause i dont do olmpic style lifting i powerlift. y do u jerk instead of doing miltary press. just curious and that was a great effort. i think u could of done 350 for three

  • With a few exceptions we treat the power jerk as a power movement, the military press as an overhead (full ROM) strength movement, the push press as an overhead (lockout) strength movement, and the split jerk as a technical lift. For what it's worth, most of us powerlift, too. Contrary to popular belief the two are not mutually exclusive and, in proper application, are very supportive to one another.

    Good question. Thanks.

  • pounds or kilograms?

  • @thugmelvin

The why are guys like Kakhiashvili and Dimas always described as "power jerkers" in weightlifting circles?

  • hey this guys name is garrett! thats my name too! this an awesome lift but what is kinda scary is how that wsm competitor derek poundstone does 310 lb overhead log press for 11-12 REPS!! fuck man. awesome lifts anyway.

  • I don't see why there is confusion. A jerk requires one smooth leg thrust movement then the lifter moves under the bar and catches it with locked elbows. A push press is a leg thrust and a press-out with the arms. If you press out a Jerk in Olympic lifting its a no lift. These are Power Jerks because the lift is performed without a drop movement (no drop lower then no mans land-1/2 squat position) in the catch phase. There can be Power Jerks, Power Cleans, and Power Snatch. lol Happy Lifting:)

  • good lift!

  • i like watching this guy; he's very powerful.

  • wow . Good jerk

  • Thats power, very impressive !!!
