Atari Tempest [1980] Classic Arcade Shooting Video Game

Oh man...  I wasted so much money on this game back in the 80s. Spent enough to probably buy one. Two cups of coffee and off to the movie theater to play Tempest until they closed. Wow, takes me back. The sounds were the payoff, heck with the score! Getting to that next level blows your mind.

Tempest: Best damn arcade game period. I'm not old enough to remember seeing this in an arcade, but I have been playing the game since I was seven. On my old mac, I've played a clone called Arashi, which is Japanese for "storm." And a tempest is in fact a violent storm. Those old Mac days are long gone, and now I'm on Windows, but maybe I can somehow relive those days in Vista.

You really suck at this game.

This game is the shit,one of the best arcade classics next to pac man,galaga,centipede,dig dug,defender,and tetris.

I'm wondering if Tempest was inspired by Robert Swarthe's 1975 animated short "Kick Me" Both it & Kick Me look similar.

It just doesn't look the same as it does on a true vector monitor...

Quite possibly the best classic era game ever. No big strategy-just shoot the shit out of everything. Perfect for angry teens in 1982.
