Chronic pain is a largely misunderstood and undertreated condition that affects millions of Americans. Now one local neurosurgeon is treating some people with back and limb pain with a treatment called a procedure called spinal stimulation -- a test drive before committing to surgery.
It's a trial procedure designed to find out if the patient would benefit from further surgery. It's done in about 30 minutes and after about 3 days, patients and doctors predict how successful surgery would be to alieviate chronic pain.
