  • I bought Blade Runner in it's original cut on VHS, is it any good?

btw, how close was Total Recall to the book? I really like the movie but I think it should have taken a different direction towards the beginning.

  • I've actually never seen the original cut.

Never saw Total Recal. The book was a short story called "We'll remember it for you whole sale"

  • This just won you my sub.

Could you review his other titles?

I really want to hear you talk about Minority Report.

  • I really really dug Minortity Report. A Scanner Darkly is also a teriffic read.

  • I have seen Scanner Darkly Is the book still a good read?

  • Yeah.

  • Spoiler alert:

can anyone explain to me how mercer appeared at the end of the book? I thought he was an actor not a being with supernatural powers. also can someone explain the significance of the ending ,did deckard become Mercer or something?

  • no kidding about the narrative, it's like what i would imagine treating someone with ADD with crack would be like! hahaha

  • @GoongalaGoongala it was still a comtemp genre still undeground but writer like Harrad and Gibson was forming clubs and groups in the genre were writers would pore ideas with each other back then with some beer ,

  • @jmm1233 He's just caying Cyberpunk wasn't a genre when Dick wrote DADOES. It may in reptrospect fit into the confines of said genre, but when it was written it was simply recognized as Sci-Fi.

  • Best book title by Dick has to be "Flow my Tears, the Policeman Said". As for DADOES, the writing style is very simple and it's extremely easy to follow. It's not too wordy and I think it benfits from that.

  • I think Nueromancer, started cyberpunk.

  • maybe the rock is reality? plugging in to get some emotions, and then unplugging(coming down from emotions/drugs) brings you down to something solid(rock).idont know. i thought blade runner was an awesone movie, and if it was Inspired by PKD, it was an awesome inspiration i gotta tell ya- thanks for your opinion of the book, im leaning toward getting a copy and givin it a read.i f i do ill check back with ya and see what we come up with ok -peace MM

  • Philip K Dick only took mindbending drugs (LSD) only on two occassions - and both times Ray Nelson was present. His wives attest to the fact that he took lots of Speed (amphentamines) but his ideas came from his fantastic mind. This is a common PKD fallacy.

  • One can quickly see why the masters of consumerism did not like and attempted to destroy him; Cali style.
