"I specifically asked for, um, little um, turkey, and little um, um, ham and um, a lot of cheese, and a lot of mayonnaise, and they're giving me a hard time. I'm wondering if you can stop by and just, um, you know--"
In this 911 call made on June 13, 2012, Rother McLennon called emergency services over a dispute involving sandwiches at the Greatful Deli in East Hartford, Connecticut. Mr. McLennon called in an order for fourteen sandwiches, with less meat than normal but with extra cheese and extra mayo instead. According to store co-owner Tila Azinheira, when Mr. McLennon arrived to pick up the sandwiches, he requested a discount because of the reduction in meat. When the owners declined to drop the price, Mr. McLennon borrowed the store's phone, which he promptly used to dial 911. During the call, Mr. McLennon complained to the dispatcher that the store owners were "playing games" with him. The store owners and emergency officials were not amused. Mr. McLennon miraculously managed to avoid arrest for abusing 911 services.
