I just got one used yesterday for $300...the guy had it for 2months...it had 20hrs on the drum! I dunno if I got ripped off paying so much for it!

Nice footage! I swear as soon as I saw the very first scene... I was like this looks like..... Small town, Ontario. Kitchener came to mind. Just the street reminded me of it.
Then I saw Tiger Discount I was like wow..... then I saw Grimsby. Good job!

thanks very useful

This looks like crap on ANY screen including my computer. A canon HV40 shoots better pictures than this and costs $700 new, a rebel t2i shoots better tripod shots. You could have either and still have 1.5k to throw at lens, rigging, and lights.

@blesshiscottonsocks it runs on both dude, damn im a necro post, i learned that word and now im yousing it :D

@MikeRilstone I would NEVER re-use tapes, it is just a really bad idea and asking for problems. Tapes are so cheap when you really break it down that it isn't worth loosing irreplacable footage due to saving a couple bucks. It also dirties the tape heads and can mess them up if you use reused tapes.

Would you recommend this to a rookie who has somewhat experice w/ a camera? and two, I like to make TV seriers, and post them up on YouTube ect.

HDR-FX7 or HVR-A1U is better?

I use the "Sony PHDVM-63DM Digital Master Tapes" I find It works the best with this camera. Its a very small camera but packs a punch. The JVC HD tapes are also very good.

Scratch that, I found out myself :)
What do you think, should I go for this or a small camcorder with a hard drive? :(
Are you sure you can't record to SD?

personally I don't really trust the low end consumer hard drive cameras...yet. Only because I have shot with a couple ones and I almost always had a problem importing the raw files onto the computer.

It also really depends on what you are going to use the camera for. If you want a nice picture and a reliable/fairly cheap camera go with the A1U. The HD tapes can be re-used a couple times. I think Its defiantly worth the coin. The A1U also shoot SD on standard MINI DV tapes and shoots a very nice picture.
hope this helps you out. cheers, mike
