Hi!

I decided to record something again, to show my relatively new whistle - Kerry Pro Low F.

The first song is called The Road to Errogie, and I try to play Flooks´s interpretation of it, as you hopefully can see : )

The second reel, The Banshee, I learned from TinWhistler, here on youtube.

The last tune is a jig I learned from a video of Michael Mcgoldrick´s playing, the Knocknamoe jig.

  • an mhaith ar fad! dia leat

  • I am curious what this means, can you give me an english translation? : )

  • It loosely means 'Very good altogether, fair play to ya' :) 'Dia leat' literally translates as 'God to you' but is used in not such a religious context - while listening to a live song/music and it is also what you say to someone after they sneeze!

  • Aha! Thank you for the nice comment and the gaelic lesson : )

  • great playing!!

My only critque would be that on the B part of the road to errogie you always play that opening phrase the same way. while its a lovely phrase the ear picks up on it very easily and so that is an opportunity to do some variation that the audience will notice :)

the first one that comes to my mind would be:

    (on a D whistle) degd/egag/abba/gggd...etc.etc.

  • Thanks for the tip. I will add some variations to the B-part. I still have quite a lot to learn from great whistle players like yourself, I guess. My technique, timing and variation skills will hopefully improve over time, as I am still quite fresh on the low whistle and flute.
