Following a six-month long composting process, a device rigged from an old barrel and a washing-machine engine, is used to separate uncomposted materials, or materials that don't break down completely, from the compost soil that can now be used to fertilize plants. Larger pieces serve as a good form of wood-cover around trees.

  • I'm afraid not, this was from a workshop I attended. I can give you a bit of a description. The sides were removed from the (metal) barrel and replaced with netting. An old washing machine engine was attached to the bottom and as the drum spins, the compost separates and goes through the netting, to be caught on a tarp laid out below the barrel. I'm afraid I can't help you on the mechanics of it.
