Mission of Burma - That's when I reach for...

I lived in Boston during Burma's first life and I saw them live more times than I can count (somewhere between 75 and 100 is my estimate).

For three years if MoB was playing in a club I'd be there. I saw their farewell show at the Bradford Ballroom and 1983 and it was a bittersweet moment. A whole community of Burmaheads had sprung up in Boston over those three years and it was the end of the road.

I wish them well in their second life...the first one was unforgettable.

Does anyone know: Why are they called "mission of Burma?" Why did they pick this name and what does it mean to them?

"Mission of Burma" plaque Conley saw on a New York City diplomatic building; he thought the phrase had a "sort of murky and disturbing" quality.
