But the largest Swiss bank has released formerly sacrosanct data on its U.S. customers because of tips provided by whistleblower Bradley Birkenfeld, who tells Steve Kroft some of the secrets Swiss bankers never tell.

Mitt Romney is one of the Americans who disclosed they had Swiss accounts. He closed his account in 2010, but did not disclose the account on his federal disclosures.

It's been that way for a long time..They want to send the message to potential whistle blowers that. It's better to keep your mouth shut, because if you talk you get sent to jail and we walk away. I would have kept my mouth shut and kept making money. It's a win, win.
