why does it sound like it is struggling from 0:59-1:22? it looks as if the incline is too much for the loco too handle?

The incline is too great but not for lack of traction. The steam dome is at the very back of the boiler and the dry steam pipe is not very high. When the front is raised the raw water floods the steam pipe and the cylinders. I have raised the dome and extended the pipe and run less water in the boiler and it runs much better now. It is, however, quite gut less and would do much better on a completely level layout. As you can see, mine isn't. So I run it just for giggles once in a while.
