Secretariat was born at 10 minutes after midnight, March 30, 1970.
The lttile shed where Secretariat was born 39 years ago at the Meadow in Caroline County Virginia has been moved from it's orginal location in order to make room for the State Fair of Virginia. Word is it is to be preserved. It still exists at the site where the old training track and stables used to be,across the highway from it's former location.
This video of the little barn was shot at sunset, March 29, 2009.

  • @LesPaulCustom79 Incredible horses. They took the most exciting two minutes in sports and made it less. I'll never forget those races.

  • If you want to see extremely rare footage of Secretariat dueling with Sham at the beginning of the back stretch at the 1973 Belmont Stakes, look up this video: Secretariat A Moment in Eternity (See from 4:00 to 4:20) No crowd noise, all you hear is their hooves beating the track and their heavy breathing when they blow by the video camera. Believe it or not, Sham ran the second fastest Kentucky Derby ever run. Secretariat's record time was 1:59.2 and Sham was 1:59.7 both under 2 minutes.

  • Is this foaling shed located near the site of the old training track in Dowswell, VA.

  • I didn't think that shed was still standing, since The Meadow Farm has become a horse park. Thanks for posting this.

  • thank you so much for posting this...it made my morning....to remember the greatest athelete that ever lived .........magnificant!!! chills!!!!
