Behind the scenes of a short film I produced with my BA class of visual fx students. Shot in HD, the live action is 100% greenscreen and all the backgrounds are a combination computer generated and miniature sets. Filming was done in one 15 hour day. Set construction and compositing was done over 3 months of class time. After Effects, Combustion, Flame, 3D Max, Vue & Final Cut were used for the post production phase. Total budget for the shoot was $120 (plus college tuition provided the equipment & stage). Majority of the students who worked on this project now are working as professional compositors, rotoscope/paint artists & motion graphic artist in top LA studios. This was a really fun "learn by doing" approach to teaching. My hope is that more schools take this approach with educating their students for professional jobs. real world - hands on experience/practice can go a long way

  • Portal will be online later this Spring! stay tuned

  • guys really good effort this looks fantastic obviously for $120 you called in a LOT of favors though because the realistic budget for this would be lets just say $120 would be lucky to get you one light just putting that out there for the ill informed people who think this stuff can be quickly thrown together overnight you know who you are :)

  • @SCOREPRODUCTIONS $120 + college tuition (which included all equipment) + months of unpaid post production work put in by the students. Again a student film
