Right, he was a spaz. But he wasn't cool. In terms of being a nice guy, he was cool. I grew up w/ these guys, and he was viewed as a fat slob. That said, since he was part of VH, all his geekness was overlooked when it came time of the concert. Then we would cheer him on while he toasted us w/ Jack Daniels and played a monster bass! This is just the way it was. Anthony gets much more respect now, because people finally recognize how important his background vocals were.

The point that many people fail to understand is that Dave brings the feisty spirit to Van Halen.....there was a ton of arguing during those early albums but look at the quality of music that came out of it....Dave called this "belligerent enthusiasm" and it made VH legendary.....when Spammy joined the band it suddenly became "let's all just get along and make nice, easy songs about love".....FUCK THAT SHIT.....I want a rock band to be edgy, furious, and fun...that was Roth Van Halen to a "T"...

Right on the money dude!!!! Warner Brothers treated VH like shit, they were selling more albums and selling out concerts than other WB artists, yet VH got nothing from them!! They are to blame. Have a read of Dave's book and the EVH interview in 82' posted here on utube, they both talk about how little support WB gave VH. Riveting news if your mad VH fan!!! Fair Warning is a master!!!!
