Had the Lakers been able to close out the series in any one of the three remaining games, this would've been by far the biggest upset in NBA history and the Nuggets' series win over the Sonics the following year would've been less impressive. Of course, history had other plans.

How embarrassing would it have been had the team with the best record in the NBA. Be eliminated by an eight seed with a losing record in the quarterfinals.

It's so amazing just how quickly the momentum can change. The Phoenix Suns are normally used to being up by a lot of points entering into the 4th quarter playing at home. For some reason the pressure has a much more psychological effect on teams in the playoffs compared to the regular season.
