Is there any point in submitting URLs for my small businesses? I looked through DMOZ's listing and it seems like they BARELY list businesses. It's mostly gigantic websites, government websites, and large organization websites now. Am I doing something wrong or do they really not list any small businesses?

Great points and as it ends up it's "far easier said than done" re: submitting your site and having it be accepted by DMOZ. Given that it's much more important to have a good title tag and description for your website. Also, you should definitely make sure that your site is listed with Google Places, as well as Yahoo's and Bing's local business listings. See this tip for more info:
