Episode 8 was one of our most popular episode of 'gadget' ever --- It seems that many uberGeeks want multiple monitor goodness, but don't want to deal with the hassles that normally come with getting the uberDesktop. The Matrox Dual and TripleHead2Go adapters were fantastic pieces of technology in that they allowed even the most n00bish user to quickly upgrade their computers to multiple monitor nirvana without as much as cracking open the case of their computer.

On this episode we take a look at the digital editions of the Dual and TripleHead2Go. --- Will they be a worth successor to their analog older brothers? Or is this another case of marketing people thinking that adding the word "digital" automatically makes for quick sales?

  • why spend 300 dollars on this, when in reality, you could go it without it. My graphics card supports 3 monitors, and has 3 ports, and it alone wasnt 300..

  • @dillonis4real,

I can speak for you, but for me it's ALWAYS about options. This product isn't for somebody who has a desktop with a multi-monitor graphics card. It's for those who can't install a graphics card, or those with a laptop, or with any number of other devices where the "single monitor signal" feature of the Matrox multi-monitor products come in handy.

Bottom line, it may not be for you, but I can guarantee that there's somebody who needs the option.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • so lets say i had an insane gaming computer with a dual monitor card built in, and i had two of these boxes. in retrospect could i run 6 different monitors at once?

  • kylelab333221,

I've done that. It's pretty cool to see! :)

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Thank you guys so much yu have just answered all the questions that i have been looking for all over the web. You guys are awesome keep doing what you guys do so well!!!

  • is it also for games like flight simulator

  • if i make it too big like past 1600x w/e the monitors turn off

i took off the 3rd moniter and jsut tried getting 2 working and its just 2 monitors cloned ...... i dunno whats wrong...

  • It should be within the settings for that particular port. (i.e. in Windows, it's under "Settings" in "Display Properties") There is a slider to increasing or descreasing the resolution of a particular "monitor" (in this case, the monitor is actually the DualHead2Go -- Your computer sees it as a single monitor.)

  • how do i do that?

without changing the 2nd graphics card port?

  • I am assuming that the two monitors that are cloning each other are the ones connected to the DualHead2Go -- If that's the case, then you need to increase the resolution on the video port that is feeding the DualHead2Go.
