  • The parachute unit was considered by the new communist power in Sofia as pro-German as its members were trained in Germany by the Fallschirmjaeger troops. However after suffering heavy casualties the Paratrooper Druzhina proved its worth. A symbolic moment for the Bulgarian Army is a report by the commander at the site of fighting after the battle. With tears in his eyes he said: "My General, the positions are under our control. My boys are dead." The death toll was near 50%.

  • This march is written in regards to the Battle of Stracin. After Bulgaria entered the Second World War at the side of the Allies the Bulgarian Army faced the German Army Group E. Its units were heavily dugged-in near the town of Stracin and after a number of unsuccessfull attacks the Bulgarian General Staff threw the elite Paratrooper Battalion into battle against forces of the 7th SS Volunteer Mountain Division Prinz Eugen.

  • Glory forever to the great Bulgarian Army !
