This is fantastic!

Instead of using tacky glue, can you use Elmers glue?

@halleykat1 We have made all sorts of projects with this technique. She can make the butterfly on a plant stake (just use a wooden skewer) or make a sculpture with several butterflies. Tiffany used this technique to make a grungy shabby chic frame and burned glue rings and lots more! Just go to our website and enter burnt brown bag in the search.

Ugh. It's not upcycling if it's just going to end up in the trash anyway.

@applefaerie We love recycling and upcycling and being crafty. It's so cool to give and receive a handmade gift.

I made a cross from this that looked like metal years ago after seeing this technique on the Aleene craft show. I think that was many years ago maybe in the late 90's. It is a very nice technique, easy, and upcycling.

Oooo! Is that a New Frontiers bag? That's a wonderful store. I'm lucky enough to have one in my area. :)
On the actual topic, is the odor of this project bad at all? Very cool project and thank you for posting.

@Nekona Yes! We LOVE New Frontiers. Ours is in San Luis Obispo. There is actually not an odor on this project but there is a lot of soot when you are burning so you need to be sure you are in a well ventilated area. Why don't you try a small sample first and see if it is something you want to try!
