Danielle was talking to Demi at the other end of the table we were sitting at.My parents brought us out for dinner.When I saw Demi get up to go to the ladies' room,I stood up and followed.I waited until he came out; I need to talk to her. I need to know why she was with Nick.When she walked out and saw me,she smiled,"Joe.What is it?"
"Um...I just wanna talk,if that's okay."
"Sure. About what?"
"Demi---"
"Dems," She corrected me.
"What?"
"I know how you like calling me by my nickname...so call me bu my nickname."
I smiled; she hadn't wanted me to call her by that name since the day we broke up. "Dems," I started again,but instead of asking her what I wanted,I said,"Can we spend some time together? Tomorrow?"
"Just you and me?"
"Just you and me."
She hesitated,but she nodded and smiled,"Yeah.Nick has an interview tomorrow anyways."
I grinned and walked back to the table with her."Everything okay?" Nick asked her.

I smiled,"Yeah,everything's fine." I sat next to him and kissed his cheek.Joe made his way back to his seat next to Kevin.I'm glad Joe wasn't angry with us anymore.Nick was right,I think he got over it.Before I got up to go the bathroom Danielle was telling me about how happy she is that Nick and I were together.I know she partially meant it.I know she's a little upset that we had gotten together,but I told her for weeks that I felt something for Nick,so she understands.
"How is he?" I had asked her.
"You want the truth?"
I was afraid of her answer,but I had to know,so I nodded.
"Miserable," she said,"I think he feels like you betrayed him."
I wanted to cry,I didn't want him to feel like that.She could tell I was on the verge of tears,so she said,"Demi,all in good time,Joe will understand.You can't keep waiting for him."
"I bet Kevin hates me."
"No! Why would you think that?!"
"I'm driving a wedge between his two younger brothers."
"He doesn't hate you,Demi.Actually,I think he's on your side.He even said to Joe that he couldn't undo what happened between you two and that he needs to move on and be happy for you and Nick."
I nodded and said,"...You don't hate me,do you?"
"Never," she smiled.
