  • Great video! I kind of feel bad for Jane Withers though.

  • Remember- there are always two sides to every story. I highly recommend reading Shirley's book, Child Star, to hear Shirley's point of view about filming "Bright Eyes." Shirley's memories are of Jane teasing and making fun of her on the set.

  • This was on TMC? I'm surprised. MGM owns Tmc, and they only ever mention Shirley if they play a movie she did with them. Isn't it funny? After all these many years, MGM is STILL jealous Fox got Shirley! XD

  • I adore Shirley Temple <3

  • Pretty fantastic little piece on the amazing story of little Shirley Temple !

  • stop crying! stop this minute!

  • Child labor...

  • awesome video :) never heard her humble beginnings

  • What an amzaing little girl!!!!!

In fact she's still amazing!!!!! :)))

  • anne edwards is a rag paper biographer. Shirley's Child Star book is more interesting. According to Jane Withers, she loved Shirley and was not allowed to play with her. She had to "wash her hands" before she went into a scene with Shirley. I'd recommend viewing TCMPS pt 1 here on youtube-it's hard to find in a search - but it's an entire show dedicated to former child stars; including Jane WIthers as a guest for other perspectives. :) I <3 Jane - she was amazing in a different way. :)

  • that is where tap dancing can get you in life <3

  • Shirley free-lanced with MGM and Paramount before signing her excusive deal with Fox. Fox gave her un-rivaled status!

  • Kathleen Turner

Alice Faye (Shirley's co-star at Fox)

provides the commentary in MOST of the documentaries, such as "The Biggest Little Star"
