My desire to draw and paint began when I was a small child. I would make up stories and illustrate them; then, when I was about 8 or 9, I was given my first oil painting set. In high school and college, I took art classes at every opportunity, but was convinced by parents and counselors that to major in art would be unwise. None the less, while teaching school during the day, I continued to take art and dance classes in the evenings. But it wasnt until I married my husband, Michael, and moved to Santa Monica that I took my first printmaking class at Santa Monica Junior College. After that, printmaking became the focal point of my energies. I took other printmaking classes to learn more and to have access to a press. Within three years, I began taking myself seriously, as an artist, and expanded my education toward learning how to get my work shown and sold.
In 1993, my husband and I were at a crossroads in our life when we were free to relocate anywhere we wanted. We happily chose Monterey County, where we bought a home in Marina and added on a studio for my artwork...including my own press. Although I have lived here only a handful of years, I feel as though I have been here most of my life. The people and climate feed my creative soul, enabling me to produce my best work ever.
