Apple could wait releasing an apple netbook, till they have released Snow Leopard?
its lighter, and faster, which means they can save on the power, or make it faster and more powerfull than its competetions!

The sony p series you mention is really portable at 1.3 pounds. They've made the hinge smaller when opening, they saved about an inch right there. Take out the touchscreen and put in a nipple, 2 inches and more saved there. Its well thought out. As they are in the mobile phone/smart phone/ laptop market they've really managed to cross over. I own the samsung nc10 and while I really love it, I love it more if it was even lighter. A small 10 inch apple netbook air. Wow. Perfect.

I wish they would consider making a netbook. But maybe they will jump into the netbook market sometime in the future.

A netbook should never be more than $500. If it does, then it should have a far better processor i.e. core 2 duo and not the atom.

Knowing Apple, if they make a netbook, it certainly will be one of a kind. They don't need the atom for good battery life. Just look at the current MacBook line. 5 hours+, and that's with a Core 2 Duo.

why choose an expensive apple netbook over a cheap linux netbook when it comes to price, weight and ease of use. You're mostly going to use it for internet, playing media and some office work. So I don't think people would want to pay too much extra for it. Only if it offers some good extras like long battery life, low weight and maybe a superdrive?

You know, keeping the overall unit size down & adding a super-drive wouldn't be difficult - since the drive slot itself is about the exact same length as the keyboard's height. We'll just have to wait & see when Apple's next "??? event" comes around. LOL
