My problem is the left analog stick and I just got my controller in christmas 2 weeks ago

now, yesterday in the afternoon i turned on my xbox and i on my xbox controller the black one and when i used the left analog stick it didnt do anything so i had to use the arrows to move and i cant play properly when i play a game like PES 2012.. pls is there anything that I can do with it pls help me i still have games coming soon.. :(
