Spree-Revellers - Einsamer Sonntag (Gloomy Sunday)

A recording without their Pianist Werner Doege.
This is the original German version of the Hungarian song "Szomorú Vasárnap", internationally known as "Gloomy Sunday". Other, later Text versions of this "suicide song" exist.
The Spree-Revellers were amongst the more important of the second wave of German groups after the Comedian Harmonists, here still with the founders Schuricke and Imlau. Imlau left the group a few months later and joined the Meistersextett (the German half of the original Comedian Harmonists), whereas Schuricke later became a national celebrity first as the leader of his own Schuricke-Terzett and then as a solo performer.
