Titanoboa - The World's Largest Snake

Study published in the Journal Nature, details the discovery of a 45-foot Colombian fossil snake, from around 60 million years ago. Do these creatures still roam the jungles of South America? We may never know.

@erikmabry I think that's because the snakes need time to acclimatize themselves to the conditions required for a snake to be that long, its a gradual process for genetic variation to occur (evolutionary process). Also, the strain of boa may be completely extinct though I don't doubt current constrictors and other such are relatives. Sorry, they do enjoy warm temperatures! I am sure tests like this are underway and comparisons made with naturally occurring snake variation in different places.
