Doctor Atomic - Atlanta Symphony Orchestra

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's American Originals Festival ended with a bang on Friday, November 21 and Sunday, November 23, 2008, with the premiere of a concert-staged production of John Adamss opera, Doctor Atomic. The work featured Music Director Robert Spano, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, and an all-star cast.

Another tedious 'opera' by John Adams.... this one really stinks. Atlanta Symphony should know better!

crudely filmed and uninteresting. I didn't search for the Atlanta Symphony just to hear a musical work interrupted by Spano's commentary. The musicians in the symphony are upstaged by the singers. The video would have better been entitled "ASO Chorus and Soloists" with the symphony as a kind of incidental participant in the performance. That's how this is filmed, at any rate.
