saying sorry is SYMBOLIC!! People who are the victim of injustice and abuse want RECOGNITION! How do you suppose our country moves forward and addresses current issues if they dont acknowledge the root cause of these exact issues.... past legislation. Saying sorry is not only a symbol of morality but VITAL to moving forward. Its like a marriage where one person cheats.. u cant just try to ignore it and forget it ever happened. Its a trivial analogy but one that can be understood by alot of ppl

Ok.. for one you are completely generalising here.. a portion of the Indigenous community are severely disadvantaged yes but facets of the community are prominent Australian icons and probably doing alot better than you EVER will.. take a look at the sporting or arts industry or the Indigenous run politcal organisations. And secondly I would love to see how your future generations would prosper if I placed you inside what is practically a jail, steal your wages and rip away your chn. idiot

you have no idea what your talking about. past legislation has generational effects which result in the disadvantage in our country today. why the hell shouldn't Indigenous people get governmental assistance to get them out of the disadvantage which the government themselves imposed upon them! And by the way minority groups gets governmental assistance all the time.. As a low income earning full time student I get a centrelink payment to help me through school, it's the same fricken thing!
