An insight into the issue of China's rapidly ageing population.
Elderly people in China are traditionally venerated. But the speed of China's development is causing social and demographic change. More and more elderly people are choosing to live in retirement homes rather than putting pressure on their children.

  • @VictimOfBoredom I am not chinese and I don't speak mandrin either but let me ask you, What's wrong with her Translation?

  • Auntie Xie is so cute%>_<%

  • great video! thanks for sharing

  • @jeremiahdrigg STAY IN TOUCH. I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT MOVING THERE

  • O MY DAYZ. so this is what they mean by culture shock..., if it where me i would NEVER EVER leave my mom in some wierd appartment to slowly age and die away. our mothers raise us love us and sacrifice so much for us, its absoloutely sickening to see people treating them like that. Paradise is underneath the feet of your mother e.g. the better you treat her the closer you are to God and ultimatly ur own happiness. i cannot believe there are people in this world that treat their parents like this

  • Nice documentary. Near the beginning, Xie talks about meridians. I am interested to know more about meridians and that particular self-care she was doing.

Also, this story shows that regardless of language and culture, people have human problems... many similar kinds of problems span across cultures, but show up a little differently.

  • Guess who is the only protector of criminal Kim Jong il??? China!!!

  • Xie Ying Jia reminds me of my mom, especially when she was talking about how her son interacted with her over the phone. Made me realize I should give her the attention she really deserves. I wouldn't want her to die feeling like she has no one to talk to.

  • Xie Ying Jia is so funny and likeable....she's like a tomboyish grandmother. very loud, opinionated and the go-getter type of personality. lol..obviously a result of having to carry the many responsibilities of raising her son alone by herself & having to endure the stigma of a divorcee in traditional thinking countries like China...same mentality in India.
