I think that yes, at the end of the day Duncan was better than Robinson. But what if a rookie David came into the league to a team that already had say... Mutombo and really good role players, like the situation Duncan had when he came into the NBA, David would have also done way better than he did with another big man taking preassure away from him and allowing him to pla PF, which he could thanks to his skills and athleticism. Imagine David defended by PFs every night...

More gifted than Tim Duncan but not better than Tim Duncan. Duncan was mentally tougher and had more skill.
