  • This might be a dumb question. Is a Shiloh Sharps also considered a Buffalo rifle, or are those two totally different guns??

  • @TheSerenityhuck Not dumb. It was used to shoot Buffalo i"m sure but back then it was made by Sharps. I'm sure I'll be wrong in many ways so if anyone else wants to answer that would be great

  • Did they ship it direct to you? I'd love to have a Shiloh Sharps someday...but, unless they'll ship it straight to me, or I pick it up myself in Montana, I won't do it.

  • @alternatehistories They said when it was ready I could come pick it up and they would give me a tour. Then they said as long as you're not from California. :0( I am. Laws suck here. Had to be shipped to gun store them transferred to me. At a extra cost.

  • Still haven't been able to get out and shoot this rifle. Almost a year now. Want to make sure I have all the right equipment. Had a rifle rest now, a few cleaning pieces and 2 boxes of ammo (40 rounds). Need to stock pile some more.

  • Why is there such a long wait? Tons of orders or just the quality?

  • @SloJoe18 Oops. Sorry Then 9/11 happened.

  • @tantalumdom - not a simplistic question. It was easier for them to design it with the hammer on the side. There is a linkage system on the inside of the rifle that goes to the firing pin which, of course, is aligned with the primer on the bullet. It took a lot of engineering know-how, and a very skilled machinist, to be able to design and build a rifle with the hammer set directly behind the firing chamber. John Browning was one of the first to do it - Winchester Model 1885

  • @TheSerenityhuck it is

  • @MrJayson1464 Ok. thanks anyway. Beautiful rifle by the way. I would sure like to have one some day, if I can find one.

  • So MrJayson have you fired the damn rifle yet or what? if so what was it like to shoot, did you hit anything, and have you used up you`re 40 rounds of ammo?

  • VERY NICE! Its on my "wish list" .... I'd like one very similar but in the .50-90 caliber used by Billy Dixon in his "mile long shot" @ the battle of Adobe Walls ;-)

  • May I ask a very simplistic question.I have never fired a riffle in my life but something has confused me about this beautiful piece of engineering in the sharps rifle. Why is there a hammer moving forward on the gun when you fire it, as I own musket that has been in my family from an forefather who worked in the tower of london, that has a hammer action like this but that was flinted and ignited gun powder from a flint that then fired the main charge .excuse my ignorance of guns

  • My father has several of these rifles he has to made his own shells.definitely remember shooting a 45-90

  • how much did this cost?
