Ronald Mcdonald Audition & Commercial (1983)

A friend of mine went thru the Audition Process
to become the new Ronald Mcdonald, and
subsequently went on to make at least one
televison commercial as Ronald. Not bad
considering he was filling the clown shoes of
actor King Moody who played Ronald for about 20
years! This Clip has Two Parts, the first part is his screen test (with the kids) from the Audition, the second part is a full fledged commercial shot after he won the the Job.
My friend is too humble to post this on
youtube, so I am doing it for him. This is for
you Larry... Thanks for keeping it real.

Actually, it took alot of convincing on my part to get him to let me post the commercial on Youtube,

and out him as Ronald. Actor's worry about being typecast, and the thought of being typecast as Ronald Mcdonald was something he was not interested in. I guess I just asked at the right time

He was more like an understudy for King Moody.

When Larry realized King Moody was not going anywhere, he asked to be let out of his contract... and the next year King Moody quit.

I was sure King Moody was Ronald for much longer than 1975-84

King Moody was TV's Ronald McDonald for 18 years. 1968 to 1985.

An amazing career. I was on of the commercial art directors who worked

with him and several other Ronald's after his retirement.
