Excerpt from an unofficial, unreleased documentary about the late Jimmie Spheeris.

Jimmie died on July 4, 1984 at the hands of a drunk driver, on the night he finished what would have been his fifth album.

Jimmie's final album was produced by the late Paul Delph. This never published or released song was written and performed by Jimmie and produced by the late Richard Burmer, who also did the keyboard work.

  • Time sure fly's....I'll be 60 on the 10th

  • @scarypowers ... love ya Mr. Scarypowers. Wish you were here tonight. We could swap Jimmie stories from the good old days. Take good care of yourself and happy b-day on the 10th. I'm beaming you my very best wishes. xo - am (art101 dot com)

  • Happy 61st birthday, Jimmie (November 5 1949 - July 4 1984). Miss ya, love ya, see you again some day. xo - am (online at The Jimmie Spheeris Memorial Gallery).

  • Does anyone happen to have Jimmie's version of "I'm so lonely I could die?" It's brilliant. I have it on LP, but don't know how to transfer it to my computer. I'd be ever so grateful if somebody has it. Thanks

  • The title of the track you're looking for is "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" - not "I'm so lonely I could die."

It's Jimmie's brilliant cover of a classic tune from his "Ports of the Heart" album, released in 1976. The song was written by Hank Williams in 1949.

Jimmie's version used to be available on iTunes. I don't know if it's still there. Consider visiting the Jimmie Spheeris Memorial Gallery for more info and links. Happy hunting and thanks.

  • Happy 60th birthday my Jimmie

  • @scarypowers happy 61st birthday, Jimmie... plus love and best wishes to scarypowers.

  • I knew Richard Burmer and Jimmy. Was working with him to do video for this fabulous album. He died on 4th of July on his motorcycle. Richard, a good friend, died a little over a year ago- 2006. Richard went on to do many albums. Thanks so much for doing this. It is great to see him again.

  • @mochaman15 Hi: I have almost every Jimmie Spheeris song ever recorded. I have "I'm so lonely I could die" on a cd.

  • @charliewrites i totally agree..when i was in college 1974 , jimmie was a major talent with my friends..Isle of View was right up there with jackson browne, joni mitchell etc.. i always thought he was well known.. i too wonder why I never read about him in Mojo or magazines such as that. He was a major.totally unique talent. I regret never seeing him life and alive. like nick drake, no one quite like him then or since.I too wish his sister would do a film of him.thanks for posting.

  • it would be fitting if his sister, wel known film maker , penelope spheeris made the documentary..This guy was an amazing presence in music. I keep waiting for a revival of his music.I often wonder why i rarely if ever read his name when reading music mags articles and interviews..Why is he still known to so few in music..

  • @underthetornado How bout U tornado? Did U know Joey Larsen that played guitar with Jimmie?
