  • there is just something about the lines of the ww2 planes. most of that era were works of art.

  • This plane received relatively little publicity & recognition - both at the end of WW2 & ever since. But from everything I've ever learned about it .. & bearing in mind it was designed & produced by Northrop Corporation (the 'Skunk Works' of its day) .. it was a very advanced aircraft. It had v. unusual, but hauntingly attractive lines. A damned pity it was so late in arriving on the scene .. much of the hardest work against the japs in the Pacific Theatre in WW2 had already been done by then.

  • good video Mate it's going to help me build my (Non RC) Model.

  • You're very welcome, my friend. Hope it was of some value to/for you. Glad I could be of help.

  • @TheSV3 Many thanks for thr great data & advice. Much appreciated.

  • @colindominy It was first used to protect the B-29 bases at Saipan,Tinian, and Guam from marauding japanese bombers shuttling in from bases on Iwo Jima. The japs did some moderate damage at first, but once the 61 showed up, it was all but over; the climax being the capture of Iwo by the Marines in '45. I've even heard it regarded as, for its day and the available technology then, a stealth-type fighter.
