  • Jay Mohr seems so desperate for a laugh. Poor guy. I actually agree with Niger's point about the institution of Gov't allowing the governor to take time for maternity leave

  • um what is wrong with Niger? it is the name of a country! It's as innocent as the name Nigel.

and what did Jay Mohr say about Eve that caused a reaction? I couldn't hear it.

  • why the fuck would his parents name him niger

  • 'Traumatic process of childbirth'? You make it sound like someone being hit by a truck! Childbirth is a natural event and women are made to withstand it quite nicely. There are sometimes complications of course, and a C-Section can make recovery a bit longer. Most women are very well recovered within a couple of weeks and post-partum amounts to little more than slight depression in most cases. Bill, citing the antics of Marie Osmond, makes it sound like we all go out of our minds.

  • It doesn't demean the woman to allow her time to recover from the physically, emotionally, and hormonally intense and traumatic process of childbirth. It gives the proper respect to the condition that she is in, as required. If she recovers very quickly, then a basic assessment can be done to ensure she retains her full authority, and if she does require a break to deal with a physical, mental, or other condition, then it should be available to her. How, exactly, does this demean a woman?

  • Hormonal differences between men and women exist of course, but have nothing whatsoever to do with how they think, despite ridiculous assertions to the contrary. Bill is insisting here, that a woman holding a responsible position, cannot hope to fulfill the obligations of that position once she has a newborn child. This is no more true of her, than of her husband in his own chosen career. It is a terrible bias to believe this and somehow, demeans a woman simply for her biology. He is wrong.

  • Here are the facts: men and women do have different biology and biological imperatives, as well as differences of endocrinology (hormones) that have a fundamental effect on the way they think and react. My assertion that it's something that only men can do was used to highlight the sexism in your statement. A man doesn't have to know about the bond between a mother and her child because he knows intimately the bond between a father and his child, which is equally powerful. That's the fact, miss.

  • @FREDGRASS The idea that men and women THINK differently is absolutely false. There is no physical difference between a man's brain and a woman's. The only difference in their thinking would, therefore, come from socially imposed norms. Childbirth and breastfeeding, like it or not, is not the same thing. A man can never know what that is like for a woman, or the bond between a woman and her child. Call that chauvinist and hypocritical all you want. Them's the facts, dude!

  • @bboots100 You clearly aren't able to synthesize a basic understanding of the reality or complexity of a situation by way of observation and critical thought processes, the way most of us men do. The idea that you have some gift of miraculous comprehension just because you've managed to spawn is ridiculous and offensive. What he is or is not able to comprehend, as a man, is something of which you have absolutely no concept. Why the fuck do people tolerate so much chauvinism from women?Hypocrites
