Tribute to one of the most beautiful ships ever made: the Andrea Doria was an italian ocean liner of the early '50s. A very modern and elegant ship, in service between Genoa and New York. The pride of a nation.

  • Thanks for remembering the Andrea Doria in her glory. She was the first Italian liner built after WW2 and I am sure many were proud to have emigrated to the U.S. aboard her. "La Dolce Vita" is fitting music - Italian Line crossed the Atlantic on "the sunny southern route" - out of the Mediterranean/Strait of Gibraltar and not from England, so the pools and the decks were a big part of shipboard life. Thanks for omitting the July 25, '56 event - being reminded of her tragic end is sad. Good job!

  • @highlyopinionated1 Grazie, ho visto anche i suoi altri commenti ad altri video, li ho apprezzati molto :)

  • What was the deadweight and empty weight of the Andrea Doria?

    Another beautiful italian liner.

  • @2175Wook not sure about the translation of those measures in italian, anyway i think that deadweight was 29.950 tons and empty weight was 19.941 tons. The ship was about 29.000 gross tons.

  • This music is banging. The Andrea Doria is beautiful beyond anything. She outclass united states, & only Normandie & the first two Queens rival the Andrea Doria.

  • @SuperTitanicfreak The music is "La dolce vita" from the famous Fellini's movie

  • Wonderful video, thaks!!

  • @SuperTitanicfreak Notice the suite bathroom with the satin upholstered walls at 0.56 and the suite at 0.59 with the painting above the beds shaped like a 1950's TV set.- a little surrealism, like the mosaic bar off the cabin class pool or the cactus-print curtains in some cabins. So much cool stuff was on that ship (each of its bars had a futuristic looking espresso machine). Post war Italian modern design at its best!

  • Simply beautiful, it's all i can say!
