  • Nice old Valient with push button tranny!

  • It ain`t push button, you can see the hand operated transmission behind the steering wheel!

  • Holy crap is that cool! I love that car, i think that's the first one I've ever seen WITHOUT pushbutton trans. Not to worry, Chrysler products start no matter what, especially the slant six. Nice ride!

  • Well, i know that here in Finland is 1 samekind "val" but not more.. It`s 100% original shape so the 3 speed manual is authentic, and in case you didn`t know, the slant is 170, not the 225..

  • I had one of them in high school, it was the coolest car ever. It had the fake spare tire on the trunk. Is your gas gauge broken? That was a common ailment in these cars. Slant sixes are immortal.

  • Yah, the temperature & gasoline meters are broken.. I have extra temperature meter and a 5 litres of gasoline in a trunk :D

The "fake tyre" model should been only on 60~61 vals, not the 62 model.. Rearlamps are also slightly different..

  • Do you still have the car? If kept in good condition, the early Valiants should be worth a heck of a lot of money! And have you or someone ever tried to fix the broken gauges on your car?

  • That brings back memories! I still remember my 60 Valiant which sounded just like that on a cold morning. And FORGET about getting up a steep hill, I used to hold up traffic even with a running start (170 cubic inch engine). Do you still have this car?

  • Takes me back to the one I had, torsion bar front springs, these cars were awesome. They had THE best AM radio ever and 3 6X9" cutouts for speakers in the rear deck. For the life of me I don't remember what year mine was but it had the 225. These engines were unbreakable, trust me, as a kid I tried. Wound up selling it to a friend, used it to deliver pizzas.

  • @peeweecee - Don't forget that only the automatics came with push-buttons from 1956 to 1964. Manuals still had the lever either on the column or floor. I believe the first Valiants had a floor shift but moved to a column shift in either '61 or '62.

  • I had a '62 model, like this one, made in Australia and It had a different dashboard to this. It was the same as the '60-61 American model and, of course was right hand drive. I find this one a bit of an enigma as it does seem to have the push button transmission arrangement on the right of the steering wheel, where it was located on Australian models, while sporting a column shift. The few manual ones that I have seen here had an awkward floor shift for manuals.

  • @OrangeKixBottom If I am correct, I remember my Aunt's 1961 Valiant's body was made in Switzerland! We couldn't believe that!

  • I just found remains of a 61 Valiant v200 in a forest near my grandparent's house.. :D

    just thought i'd share

  • It would be great to watch your foot-action on the pedal sometime as you start this cool car. You really pump it up and shoot that black smoke onto the poor snow with the exhaust!
