We disassembled a car and turned its parts into musical instruments. The Automobile Revision is Thinktank 8 by my count. This project started with Mark Dixon, Etta Cetera, Steve Tesh, Erik Nugent and James Knopf (now Gyre) locking themselves into a 17' X 26' room with a car, tools, food, water and humanure-style waste facilities. We spent the next two weeks disassembling the car, turning its parts into musical instruments and writing music on those instruments. At the end of the two weeks we opened the doors and gave a performance. We took the show on the road too, playing such fine venues as the Mattress Factory and the yard behind Etta's house (site of the following year's "house bike" thinktank). While revising the car we also shot and began editing this video. The event was web cast too. The Automobile Revision was part of the International Sculpture Festival which was held in Pittsburgh that year, 2001.
