  • R.I.P. Ellwood "Woody" Lawson. I'm greatful for your honorable service to our country and for letting me bring your stories to life on broadcast television & online.

  • I wa stationed on Okinawa in 1970. Mr. Lawson's reference to the caves was interesting to me, since I was in the caves. Anyone that went in them after the Japanese has my respect and gratitude. They went from large rooms to real narrow passages. I couldn't imagine going in there after the enemy. Thanks for your service!

  • Thanks for posting and sharing your story.

with. I did receive a letter from your grandmother, telling me about your grandfathers

condition. So if you would be so kind, as to express my condolences to her Ii would appreciate it Thank you, for the information, if though as sad as it may

    be. Herb.

  • @1925herky Hello Herb...In case you haven't recieved the news, Woody passed away on April 21, 2010 at about 3pm. He's always been a man that I looked up to. I want to thank you for being his friend and staying in contact all these years. It's the men like you and Woody that made the Marine Corps and military what it is today. For your bravery and will to fight for what you believe in, I salute you!! Semper Fi...

  • I have some very sad news to share with all who view this and for those who knew Woody. Ellwood "Woody" Lawson was my grandfather. It saddens me deeply to share that Woody passed away on April 21, 2010 at the age of 84. He had been fighting lung cancer for about 5 1/2 years. He was a wonderful man and a hero. He will be missed dearly...

  • This is my Grandfather. He was a true American Hero and a true patriot. He passed away yesterday at 3:00. He will be forever missed.

  • @traxbn99 Hello Shane: Herb here. I was pleased to receive your message about your Grandfather (Woody). In the card I received last year, he mentioned that he was not in the best of health. He and I shared many foxholes together. Tell him I think about him, and wish him well. Thank you Shane for the information. I and my wife, are fortunate enough to have fairly good health.

  • Hello Herb...my name is Shane. I'm Woody's grandson. I hope this message finds you in good health. I read your message and thought that you should know given that you don't already. My grandfather, Woody, has been struggling with lung cancer for a while now. He's been in and out of the hospitals for the last year. I'm sure it's nothing personal but I would imagine that's why you haven't recieved a card this year...Semper Fi!!

  • My name is Herb, I was trying to locate Woody on Google, and happened to find this on u tube. I was in the same machine gun squad, I didn`t receive a card from Woody this year and was curious to find out why?
