They wouldn't have gone through the trouble of Tron's suit changing color to just kill him.
As for the system being gone, honestly? You really CAN cram a 20 year old system's worth of data on a jump drive. And that's with OUR tech level. Imagine how much of a tech jump that universe has had since the original system went live.

Loved the movie, only qualms I have is the fact why didn't they choose some one better to play the role of Sam Flynn, I mean this guy possesses the the qualities of a cretin almost to the point of being ambisiniter! Wish Rinzler killed him.
Futher more, why doesn't the bad guy ever Win? The audience can rest assured that the protagonist will save the day and he'll even score a lovely damsel, averring their love for one and another tacitly with an amorous kiss just before credits roll.

but the water after the system exploded appeared fine, if i remember correctly, and that's where tron was. they show rinzler turning back into tron so somehow they have to bring him back. i, too, wonder how! it should be interesting.

If Wikipedia is right, they're planning on making a sequel, but I dunno where the series can go from here. Flynn senior blew up the the system. No more CLU, no more Tron. Whatever's left got saved onto Flynn junior's thumb drive at the end of the movie.

@19andoverlol From what I've read, TRON 3 is in the works. We're going to see a sequel by 2013. And it involves Dillinger. (MCP)
