The Bible talks about evil in the world, God is not the author of that evil but it does exist. If I were to "love God" because that was the only option, what kind of love would that be? But I have the choice of who I serve, as do you. There are horrible things that happen in this life, the Bible has some really good explanations of how and why evil is around and who is responsible. The quest I would ask is; if this is a joke & we're a matter of random chance, where did evil come from?
